HIT Application Support & Reporting Specialist

The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively looking for a HIT Application Support & Reporting Specialist  to join our team in Urbandale, IA. 

PURPOSE OF POSITION
The HIT Application Support & Reporting Specialist will be a cross-functional member of the Iowa Primary Care Association, INConcertCare and IowaHealth+. This role will provide technical support to member health centers with data analytics software applications and health information technology reporting. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

Support and maintenance of HIT

  • Serve as member of the support team responsible for clinical/end-user support.

  • Work with staff at health center sites to solve problems specific to their center.

  • Utilize and manage INCC’s up-to-date ticket tracking system.

  • Works with staff over the phone at health center sites to solve problems specific to health information technology reporting and analytics tools.

  • Develop relationships with third party software vendors that are supported by the organizations.

Data Product Development & Management

  • Design, create and manage reports of electronic medical record (EHRS), practice management (PM), and healthcare claims data.

  • Support data visualizations in support of clinic operations, performance improvement initiatives, and accountable care organization performance metrics.

  • Serves as primary point of contact for data reporting and analytic tool help desk support to health centers.

  • Develops, maintains, and troubleshoots EHR and data reporting including custom reports for Iowa PCA staff and IowaHealth+ member centers.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field and/or Information Technology preferred.

  • Ability to work programmatically with data from a variety of sources (flat files, relational database management systems, spreadsheets, etc.) includes working knowledge of database design constructs (e.g., tables, views, stored procedures, and functions.) MS SQL Server experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in design, development, testing, and documentation of reporting and data analytics programs.

  • Experienced user of HIT applications/population health/healthcare analytics and prior experience implementing /maintaining / supporting HIT applications in the ambulatory/outpatient setting.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in data management, reporting, or analysis preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology; clinical experience preferred.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Two years demonstrated work experience supporting / maintaining HIT applications.

  • Two years demonstrated work experience with report writing/development and data analysis.

  • High analytical skills, language and reasoning ability. Excellent business acumen.

  • Demonstrated experience providing strong customer service.

  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts and ability to design analytical reports.

  • Athena and NextGen EHRs

  • Arcadia value-based care analytics

  • Enli care manager and central worklist

  • Working knowledge of analytics tools such as SSRS, SQL, etc.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents, operating and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

In addition to previously listed skills, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including spreadsheets, word processing, and database.
