Who We Are

About the Iowa Primary Care Association

Since 1988, the Iowa Primary Care Association (Iowa PCA) has supported Iowa’s community health centers (CHCs) – also known as Federally Qualified Health Centers – to support their ongoing commitment to provide quality, affordable, and accessible primary and preventive healthcare to meet local community needs. We are a non-profit membership association that supports our 14 CHC members, one of which is a migrant health program. We are recognized as a trusted voice on healthcare, particularly concerning under-resourced populations. Iowa's CHCs collectively provide care and supports to nearly 245,000 Iowans each year through over 810,000 patient visits.

Our work focuses on our mission of enhancing CHCs’ capacity to care. Learn more about Iowa’s CHCs.

We collaborate to enhance the healthcare system.

As a leader in community healthcare, we are developing innovative approaches to ensure high quality care is delivered in a cost-effective manner. Additionally, we focus on the drivers that affect our patients’ overall health such as lack of transportation, food insecurity, housing, etc. We are building a health system that will lead to a healthier Iowa though expanded access in rural and urban areas, workforce recruitment and retention, increased health coverage, and patient directed care that ensures the right care is provided at the right place and the right time.

Our focus is on supporting community health in Iowa.

  • The Iowa PCA is committed to providing leadership and assistance to Iowa’s community health centers in numerous ways including: quality and value-based care, behavioral health, oral health, routine screening, special populations, communications, outreach and enrollment, policy and advocacy, billing and finance, and much more. • Our team plays a vital role in educating our federal, state, and local policy makers about community health centers and our role in reducing health care costs, providing access to care, and our innovative approach to providing care for the entire person.

The Iowa PCA also manages two sister companies, profiled below.

INConcertCare

InConcertcare LogoINConcertCare (INCC), a sister organization of the Iowa PCA, provides essential technology and data support to Iowa’s network of CHCs through centralized strategy development and vendor management. These essential roles are coupled with robust services and support focused on electronic health records (EHR) systems, data analytics, and reporting. By using data analytics and population health management, CHCs are coordinating resources and analyzing data to build stronger partnerships with payors and other organizations to help eliminate fragmented care.

Eleven of Iowa’s CHCs have collectively implemented the OCHIN Epic EHR platform. This collaboration of Iowa's CHCs, INCC, and OCHIN is a first-of-its-kind model to provide a centralized, top-of-class EHR solution to connect CHCs across the state. It enhances how Iowa’s CHCs and our clinically integrated network connect with other systems, share data, standardize workflows, make informed decisions, and collaborate with partners.

IowaHealth+

iowahealthplus logoOur second sister company, IowaHealth+, is a clinically integrated network owned and managed by 11 Iowa CHCs and the Iowa PCA. The organization is a voluntary business venture dedicated to providing payor agnostic and value-based care while furthering the unique mission of community health centers. This statewide network demonstrates how primary care clinics can improve patient outcomes while reducing costs. With values rooted in patient engagement, IowaHealth+ is a national leader in healthcare reform. Learn more about IowaHealth+.

Guiding the work of the Iowa PCA is our Board of Directors.

Our Iowa PCA Board of Directors is comprised of Chief Executive Officers of Iowa’s CHCs and provides direction to the work of the Iowa PCA to ensure we are achieving our mission. Together with our member CHCs, we are ensuring healthcare access for all Iowans.
