Iowa Primary Care Association Selected as Statewide Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organization (ASO)
DES MOINES, Dec. 13, 2024 – The Iowa Primary Care Association (Iowa PCA) announced today their selection as the statewide Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organization (ASO) by Iowa Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS) to administer Iowa’s Behavioral Health Service System. Iowa will transition to the new Behavioral Health Service System on July 1, 2025.
“At the Iowa PCA, we are motivated and driven to work at the systems and community levels to address the very real barriers Iowans face to access behavioral health services that we have witnessed first-hand in our work with community health centers and other stakeholders across the state,” said Aaron Todd, Iowa PCA Chief Executive Officer. “The behavioral health redesign efforts are a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a more holistic, integrated model of service delivery to better serve Iowans.”
The Iowa PCA is recognized as a national leader in health information technology, value-based care partnerships, health equity, quality improvement, organizational change management, and systems change. As the statewide ASO, the Iowa PCA will draw upon these competencies and experiences and continue to seek input from local stakeholders to inform their approach to system redesign efforts and to ensure a smooth transition to the new model.
“Just as we have led the nation in our work with community health centers, we are prepared and excited to partner with Iowa HHS, behavioral health districts, providers and stakeholders to realize Iowa’s vision as the national leader in behavioral health service delivery,” said Todd.
