Financial Counselor- Sioux City, IA

The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a Financial Counselor for a community health center, also called a federally qualified health center (FQHC), in Sioux City, Iowa.

Position Details:

  • Monday – Friday, in person, 8am – 5pm

What is Required:

  • Working closely with individuals in person or by phone, showcasing your passion for assisting others and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to embrace the challenge of navigating questions and concerns brought by the individuals you are assisting.
  • Being comfortable with computer and data entry tasks by showcasing your dedication to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.

What is preferred:

  • Experience with insurance, customer service, medical office, finance, or marketing/community outreach.
  • Knowledge of the State Family Planning Program.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Advanced computer and data entry skills.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide enrollment assistance for uninsured adolescents and adult patients/residents of the service area to access subsidized, low cost, and free health insurance programs through the health insurance marketplace, State Family Planning Program and Medicaid.
  • Provide structured patient education on health insurance coverage, engage in follow up conversations, and offer renewal assistance for enrolled individuals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of organizational outreach and enrollment initiatives.
  • Distribute outreach materials to patients/residents of the service area, community members, and partner organizations and businesses to build health coverage option awareness.
  • Attend community events to promote health coverage options and the outreach enrollment services available from the health center

  • Starting hourly wage: $16.00/hour with additional if bilingual in Spanish
