National Health Center Week Has Arrived!

August 13, 2018

National Health Center Week finally here and the Iowa Primary Care Association is excited to support the many fun events happening around the state of Iowa during August 12-18! National Health Center Week occurs every year in August to acknowledge and promote the work of community health centers all over the country. We enjoy the opportunity to recognize the importance of everyone involved in the success of community health centers, and we encourage you all to participate in the activities happening this week.

This year, the National Association of Community Health Centers has designated focus days for special groups of people that are involved some way with community health centers. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Health Centers: Home of America’s Health Care Heroes”:

  • August 12 – Legislative Appreciation Day
  • August 13 – Honoring Health Center Heroes Day
  • August 14 – Public Housing Health Center Day
  • August 15 – Health Center for the Homeless Day
  • August 16 – Agricultural Worker Health Center Day
  • August 17 – Patient Appreciation Day
  • August 18 – Children’s Health Day

Community health centers in Iowa encourage everyone in surrounding communities to join them in celebrating these events. You can find more information, including dates and times of events happening in Iowa, at www.healthcenterweek.org.

Iowa PCA staff members will be attending events in Iowa this week, so we encourage you to follow along on our social media pages for photos of the events, 2017 data, and more. You can also follow the hashtags #NHCW18 and #CHCSuperPower.

Thank you to community health centers not only in Iowa, but all over the country for hosting events during National Health Center Week and for working to create public awareness of the important work you do and the patients you serve. We invite all to come out and show your support for America’s health care heroes!
