The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively searching for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Primary Health Care in Des Moines, IA.

Practice Details:

  • Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer is a member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for organizational strategy and expansion and for ensuring consistent achievement of PHC’s mission and financial objectives.
  • Provides leadership for development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures, strategies, and performance of the health center financial functions including Financial Management, Accounting, Procurement, and Billing. 
  • Responsible for financial management including long and short range planning, budgeting, accounting, financial statements, proposing fee structures, managing A/R, monitoring financial status of the organization, ensuring appropriate reimbursement, maintaining internal controls, ensuring a successful annual audit, financial management of grants and performing the necessary and appropriate financial/program analyses
  • Responsible for overall compliance with assigned chapters for Joint Commission, HRSA/BPHC, and other regulatory or accrediting agencies.
  • Position is available immediately.


  • Master’s Degree in business administration, finance or accounting.
  • Minimum of five years of executive level management in a health care setting required.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting processes and procedures including experience with computerized accounting systems.
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and employee benefit programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel; basic knowledge of Access & PowerPoint or similar applications; and familiarity with HRIS systems.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to complete projects independently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to consistently meet departmental work schedule as designated.
  • CPA preferred
