The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a Chief Executive Officer for a community health center, also called a federally qualified health center, in Leon, Iowa

This community health center is seeking a visionary leader for their ever-evolving organization. They have a terrific team and a vast array of services throughout their expansive service area in southern Iowa.

A successful candidate is organized, nimble, adaptive, collaborative, and able to lead a team with very diverse needs and skill sets. This position will help establish this organization as both a provider of choice and employer of choice! This community health center’s locations are in primarily rural communities; the right candidate has experience in these settings.

Position Description:

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the organization, including clinical, administrative, finance, and governance performance expectations, as directed by the Board, BPHC, or other regulatory agencies, to ensure the mission is maintained. Serves as the key link between the Board of Directors and the management team. Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of community health center.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required in healthcare management or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years health care experience, with minimum of 3 years at a management/executive level
  • FQHC experience strongly preferred

Location:

  • Hybrid
  • Required two days per week in Leon office, remaining 3 days can be remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Practices exceptional customer service to all.
  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of the community health center.
  • Implements the directives and intent of the mission of the community health center.
  • Responsible for the effective operation and management of all community health center activities.
  • Serves on the administrative team, providing information, insight and guidance with respect to financial and operational matters.
  • Ensures timely submission of annual funding applications/grants and required reports.
  • Develops, oversees and implements a system for planning, reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating operations and programs of the community health center.
  • Selects and maintains qualified staff for all community health center functions.
  • Attends all Board and Board committee meetings, communicates regularly with the Board of Directors, and monitors and reports progress toward achieving goals and objectives to the Board.
  • Works to develop, implement, and maintain an active and effective community relations component on behalf of the community health center and represents the community health center in an appropriate manner to other public and private entities, agencies and networks.
  • Maintains an ongoing total quality management program to obtain the following outcomes, (1) improve overall quality of patient care and service delivery; (2) increase provider productivity; (3) increase patient volume: (4) demonstrate operating efficiency: and (5) positively impact patient satisfaction.
  • Leads in developing immediate and long-term planning activities.
  • Assures adherence to statutory and regulatory standards.
  • Manage and process claims related activity and serve as claims point of contact for the community health center.
  • Manage litigation related activity and serve as legal point of contact for the community health center.
  • Participates and supports the chronic disease management (collaborative) program.
  • Assist with the implementation and sustaining of patient centered medical home status as needed.
  • Participate in quarterly quality Improvement efforts.
  • Appropriately recognizes and rewards team members.

  • This community health center will be moving to a centralized, best-in-class electronic health record, Epic. This will take place along with 10 other community health centers in Iowa. This nearly statewide collaboration is a new, unique national model, and will provide an integrated, standard, and comprehensive EHR system to support Iowa’s community health centers in both rural and urban areas of the state.
