PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position will assist the Lead Financial Analyst as well as the Financial/Grant Accountant with accounting and clerical duties to ensure all commitments are met and contribute toward our goal of delivering quality service to the Iowa Primary Care Association, INConcertCare, and IowaHealth+ and their partners and members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

General Ledger

  • Prepare and update Trial Balances as requested by Lead Financial Analyst and Financial/Grants Accountant
  • Prepare zero balance workpapers for Financial/Grants Accountant review.
  • Update and save report templates in accounting system

Accounts Receivable

  • Assist Financial/Grants Accountant with monthly invoicing.
  • Send out invoices to members throughout the month.
  • Apply incoming payments from members.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly deposit to bank.
  • Update bank balances daily in accounting system including incoming EFT’s for deposit.

Accounts Payable

  • Monitor, save and process incoming accounts payable invoices via email, mail or downloaded via vendor website.
  • Assist Financial/Grants Accountant with tracking unsubmitted credit card charges from staff.
  • Prepare completed accounts payable checks for outgoing mail and if necessary, deliver to post office.
  • Update credit card balances daily in accounting system

Payroll

  • Collect timesheets and expense reports from staff, compile payroll information for Financial/Grants Accountant’s review and obtain necessary signatures on timesheets.
  • Download Payroll reports and assist Financial/Grants Accountant with preparing necessary Payroll Spreadsheets.

Reporting

  • Independently compile spreadsheets, tables, memoranda and/or presentations from information provided by Director of Accounting, Lead Financial Analyst or Financial/Grants Accountant.

Special Projects and Analysis

  • Prepare, compile and sort documents for data entry, check source documents for accuracy, and verify data and correct data where necessary.
  • Complete and mail bills, contracts, policies, invoices, or checks if needed.
  • Assist in maintaining company contracts, ensuring appropriate filing convention and document retention.
  • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computers.
  • Complete special projects as assigned, which may include but are not limited to assistance with the annual audits, mailing of the Forms 990, bookkeeping and compliance reporting for Iowa Primary Care Association and related entities.
  • Maintain daily time log.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
  • Accounting degree candidate.  Freshman or sophomore year accounting major.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
  • Organization and attention to detail is imperative.
  • Ability to take direction and perform successfully both independently and as a team member.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents, operating and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. 

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including spreadsheets, word processing, and databases.
